At the onset I would like to say, when we share a message on New year’s day it is not some celebrity magic word. We believe the Lord speaks all the time. He works in times and seasons. He does work very specifically in each of our lives and corporately too. One of the most important postures as a child of God is to seek His heart. As we were mentioning on Christmas day about the 3 magi who came from afar seeking diligently the ‘King of the Jews’. They were focussed, determined, diligent, committed and persistent till they found Him. Non-Jewish, yet connected to the heavens. Heard & Saw the star and followed with their treasures for the King.
We already know in Sep 2025 we entered the new Hebraic year 5786 and now we have entered the Gregorian new year 2026. I believe that we have entered a pivotal connector year and season. It is very interesting to study the Hebrew significance of 6. Let me take you through this to set the stage for our message today.
The number 6 and the Hebrew letter Vav hold significant meaning for the years 2026 and 5786. Vav represents a hook, tent peg or nail, symbolizing connection, joining, and securing. It's the sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and signifies humanity. It's a year of connection, Divine alignments, and transition, marking the end of old cycles and the beginning of new ones.
I believe it’s a year when we will see the glory of the Lord upon the church – manifesting!!! Last week we had a beautiful time of worship when the Lord released some awesome words.
It’s the time for REINSTATING HUIOS – Sons & Daughters being readied for His glory.
Romans 8:14-19 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons(Huios) of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children (teknon) of God, 17 and if children (Teknon), then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons(Huios) of God.
Huios - The main Greek word for "son" in Romans 8, especially in verses like 8:14 and 8:19, is υἱός (huios), meaning a mature, adopted, or legally recognized son, implying spiritual maturity and inheritance, distinct from τέκνον (teknon), which means a child by birth, used for general offspring. Paul uses huios to emphasize believers' status as adult, legal children of God, led by the Spirit to partake in Christ's glory and future inheritance.
The Greek language has several words used to describe children, and we will mention four here.
The first three are similar in that they all describe the same thing, all describing a “child” in a different way. All three of these terms refer to a child as an offspring, as “one who has been begotten”, with the difference being the age of the child mentioned.
1. Nepios (νήπιος) – Infant. Literally “infant” or “babe.” Spiritually, it refers to believers who are newly born in Christ but still immature. A nepios Christian is dependent, easily influenced, and not yet able to digest deeper truths. They need spiritual “milk” rather than “solid food.”
“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes (nepioi) in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it.” (1 Corinthians 3:1–2)
2. Paidion (παιδίον) – Child. A small child, often used for toddlers or young children. Spiritually, this stage reflects early growth. A paidion believer begins to learn obedience and humility but is still vulnerable and impressionable. Jesus highlights the importance of childlike humility at this stage.
“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children (paidia), you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3–4)
3. Teknon (τέκνον) – Child/Offspring. “Child” in the sense of offspring, emphasizing relationship rather than age. A teknon believer is growing in identity and responsibility. They know they belong to God and begin to live out that identity. This stage emphasizes being part of God’s family and learning to walk in His ways.
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children (tekna) of God.” (Romans 8:16)
4. Huios (υἱός) – Son. A mature son, often used for heirs. Spiritually, this is the stage of maturity. A huios believer is Spirit-led, responsible, and reflects the Father’s character. They are ready to inherit and steward God’s promises.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons (huioi) of God.” (Romans 8:14)
Here's a breakdown of the key terms in Romans 8:
υἱός (huios): Strong's G5207, translated as "son" or "sons," signifying a mature, adopted child with rights and privileges, often used for "sons of God" (Romans 8:14, 8:19).
τέκνον (teknon): Strong's G5043, meaning a "child" or "offspring," used more generally for children, even male or female, by birth (Romans 8:16, 8:17).
When Paul speaks of those "led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God" (Romans 8:14), he uses huios, highlighting a status of maturity and adoption.
When the Spirit testifies we are "children of God, and if children, then heirs" (Romans 8:16-17), tekna is used for the general idea of offspring, while the concept of heirship connects back to the huios status.
Children or Sons? Romans 8:14-17
In Romans 8:14, we read that “those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God”. The word “are” here is the present active indicative of eimi- the verb “to be” in Greek. This tells us that those who are led by the Spirit are sons of God as a statement of fact, so are we to conclude here that our status as God’s children is dependent on our behaviour? If this were so, this would contradict everything else we read in the New Testament, which teaches everywhere that our status as God’s children is based only on our faith in Christ and never on our behaviour. So what exactly is Paul saying here, do we have to behave a certain way to be God’s children?
An examination of verses 15-17, and a subtle difference in the Greek text not seen clearly in the English translation, will provide the answer to this question. We find, in verse 15, that Paul is talking to believers here, for He tells us we have received “the Spirit” and are able to cry out “Abba, Father”. We then find, in verse 16-17, that the spirit “Himself” testifies that we are God’s children, and because we are God’s children we are “heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ”.
We notice a transition here in the English text from “sons” in verse 14 to “children” here in verse 16 and 17. This is because two different Greek words are used here, and it is in the usage of these two words that we find the answer to our question. The word translated sons in verse 14 is the Greek huios, while the word translated children in verse 16-17 is the Greek tekna.
Huios, does not focus on the child as an “offspring” or as one “begotten”. This is what the word tekna is used for, and we find here (in verse 16-17) that all believers are God’s tekna, His “offspring” and His heirs. The term huios can represent the male offspring, but its more common usage was to refer to a son not as an offspring, but as one who does what his or her father does. He is telling us here that all who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ are God’s tekna, while it is only those who are “led by the Spirit”, those who do what the Father does, who are about the Father’s business, who are God’s huios. A huios is a child who is about the Father’s business, who seeks to do the will of His or Her father, and it is God’s desire that all of His tekna would become huios, that all of His children would seek to do His will and be about His business, that all of His children would be led by His spirit. So we find here that our status as God’s children is not based on our behaviour, but only and always on our faith in Christ, but that our status as God’s “sons” (and daughters) is based on our behaviour, that we become more mature sons (and daughters) as we are led by the Spirit and seek to do as our Father does, as we seek to be about His business. May we all seek this in our lives, that all of God’s tekna would become mature, obedient huios, children who are always about their Father’s business.
In summary, to better understand the difference,
Teknon-Child | Huios – Son/Daughter |
By birth | By position |
Born of God | Taught of God |
Has Father’s Nature | Has Father’s Character |
Nature - Who God is | Character – What He does |
Nature is His capacity | Character is the expression of that nature |
God’s nature guarantees God’s character. This is why we use His nature and character inter-changeably. However, we as sons may have His nature when we are born again but that does not guarantee His character in us.
Given below are a list of statements regarding ‘childish behaviour’. This is a good practical checklist to examine ourselves in how we are fairing in walking in our Father’s character. Are we still childish in our ways? like its mentioned in 1 Cor 13:11 - When I was a child (nepios), I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. Lets find out!
Childish behaviour in church:
· Children get offended
· Children are ignorant
· Children always complain
· Children are gullible ( believe everything)
· Children love entertainment
· Children have digestive problems ( addicted to milk)
· Children have streaks of rebellion
· Children have no focus
· Children don’t walk, they run
· Children love playing hide and seek
· Children have incoherent speech
· Children manipulate/Throw tantrum
· Children are selfish
I believe this is a time when the ‘Huios’ of God are being reinstated and revealed.
Here are some other examples:
- Matthew 5:9: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons (huios) of God."
- Romans 8:14: "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons (huios) of God."
- Galatians 3:26: "For in Christ Jesus you are all sons (huios) of God through faith."
- Galatians 4:7: “Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son (huios), and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
- Hebrews 2:10: "For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons (huios) to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering."
The 5th stage of maturity is called Telios (Τέλειος) is a Greek word meaning "complete", "perfect", or "mature". In the New Testament, telios often describes maturity or completeness in faith (1 Corinthians 2:6, Hebrews 5:14). Can imply being fully aligned with God's will or character (Matthew 5:48, James 1:4). Jesus and Telios - In Hebrews 5:8-9: Jesus, "being the Son, he learned obedience through what he suffered, and being made perfect (telios), he became the source of eternal salvation..."
Perfection as Man: Jesus, as a man, was made perfect (telios) through suffering, qualifying Him as our High Priest.
Perfection as God: Jesus, as God, is inherently perfect (telios) in His divine nature (Hebrews 7:26, John 1:1-14).
A Prophetic VAV between Huios & Ben-Yamin!!!
I believe linked to reinstating Huios (The Greek for mature sons and daughters) is the prophetic significance of the tribe of Benjamin (Ben – the Hebrew for Sons & daughters) for the church in this season. One of the words the Lord gave us back in 2022 is Little Benjamins Rising. It is time for this to manifest right now. Let’s do a study on Benjamin.
Benjamin was the last, 12th and ONLY son born to Jacob after His encounter with the Lord and his name changing to Israel.
1) Son of My right hand - Genesis 35:16–18 16 Then they journeyed from Bethel. When they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labour, and she had hard labour. 17 And when her labour was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for you have another son.” 18 And as her soul was departing (for she was dying), she called his name Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin.
· Strength & Authority: In Scripture, the right hand often symbolizes power, favour, and authority.
“Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power” (Exodus 15:6).
“At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
· Intimacy & Honour: To sit at someone’s right hand is to share in their honour and closeness.
Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 1:3).
· Protection & Blessing: The right hand conveys divine protection and blessing.
Jacob himself blessed Ephraim with his right hand (Genesis 48:14–20), signifying favour.
So Benjamin, as “son of my right hand”, embodies strength, favour, intimacy, and inheritance. His name reverses the sorrow of Rachel’s “Ben-Oni” (son of my sorrow) into a prophetic destiny of honour.
2) Warrior - Jacob’s prophetic blessing - Genesis 49:27 “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf, in the morning devouring the prey and at evening dividing the spoil.”
· Literal Imagery – Jacob compares Benjamin to a wolf, an animal known for courage, fierceness, and persistence. This reflects the tribe’s warrior nature: Benjamites were skilled fighters, left-handed slingers, and fearless in battle (Judges 20:16). Historically, Benjamin produced leaders like King Saul and Mordecai, who defended Israel with boldness.
· Morning and Evening – Daily Rhythm. The phrase “in the morning he devours the prey, and at night he divides the spoil” is interpreted by Jewish commentators as a reference to the Temple sacrifices. The Temple stood in Benjamin’s territory (Jerusalem straddled Judah and Benjamin). Priests offered sacrifices morning and evening, consuming part and dividing the remainder. Thus, Benjamin’s blessing links his tribe to worship and service, not only warfare.
· Dual Nature – Fierce Yet Generous. The wolf image is not only about aggression. Jewish thought emphasizes the balance: Morning: strength, conquest, victory and Evening: sharing, dividing, generosity. This duality shows Benjamin as both protector and provider, fierce in battle but willing to share blessings with the community.
3) Beloved - Moses’ blessing - Deuteronomy 33:12 “The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by Him… between His shoulders.”
· “The beloved of the Lord” - Benjamin is uniquely called beloved. This highlights God’s special affection for Benjamin’s tribe. In Jewish tradition, Benjamin was considered beloved because the Temple in Jerusalem (God’s dwelling place) was built on land belonging to Benjamin’s territory.
· “Dwells in safety” - The blessing promises protection and security. Historically, Benjamin’s land was strategically located between Judah and Ephraim, Moses declares that Benjamin will dwell securely under God’s care. Spiritually, it points to intimacy with God as the source of true safety.
· “The High God surrounds him all day long”- This emphasizes constant divine protection. Jewish commentators connect this to the Shekinah (God’s presence) surrounding Benjamin’s territory. It suggests that Benjamin’s tribe would live under continual divine favour.
· “Dwells between his shoulders”- This poetic phrase is often interpreted as referring to the Temple Mount, which lay within Benjamin’s borders. Just as the shoulders are close to the heart, the Temple was close to God’s “heart,” symbolizing intimacy. It also conveys strength and support—Benjamin carries the honour of hosting God’s dwelling place.
Jericho & Jerusalem within the territory of Benjamin, wow!
4) Strategic biblical characters from the Tribe of Benjamin
· King Saul (1 Samuel 9–15) - Israel’s first king, chosen from Benjamin.
· Jonathan (1 Samuel 13–14, 18–20) - Saul’s son, known for his courage and loyalty.
· Mordecai (Esther 2–10) - A Benjamite who became a key leader in Persia.
· Queen Esther (Esther 2–10) – The ONLY queen of Jewish lineage.
· The Apostle Paul (Saul of Tarsus) (Philippians 3:5; Acts 9–28)
5) Little Benjamin, their ruler - Psalm 68:27 “There is little Benjamin, their ruler, the princes of Judah in their throng, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.”
The psalm calls Benjamin “little” because it was the smallest tribe numerically (cf. 1 Samuel 9:21). This highlights the biblical theme: God uses the small and overlooked to accomplish great purposes.
Benjamin as a Ruler points to Benjamin’s role in leadership, especially through King Saul, Israel’s first monarch. It shows that royal authority and national leadership emerged from this small tribe.
Verses 24–26: Describe God’s victorious procession into the sanctuary, a liturgical, celebratory march with singers, musicians, and worshippers. And Benjamin is listed alongside Judah, Zebulun, and Naphtali. These represent different regions (south, north, central), symbolizing national unity under God’s victory. Benjamin’s presence in this procession emphasizes that even the smallest tribe has a place in God’s covenant community.
Benjamin embodies the prophetic pattern of transformation weakness becoming strength, sorrow turning to joy, and the least becoming mighty. In the current season, Benjamin points to a remnant rising in spiritual authority, positioned at God’s right hand to carry His victory and inheritance.
Call to Action:
1. Embrace Identity as Sons, Not Just Children. Am I living as a dependent child or as a mature son who reflects the Father?
2. Position Yourself at the Right Hand. Act from a place of authority and intimacy, not insecurity.
3. Turn Sorrow into Strength. Where has God turned my sorrow into strength? How can I testify of that transformation?
4. Lead from Smallness. Don’t despise small beginnings or overlooked places. God raises the “least” to lead. God delights in using the remnant.
5. Be a Warrior and Worshipper. Balance warfare and worship: fight spiritual battles with courage, but dwell in God’s presence with humility.
6. Carry God’s Presence. Make your life a sanctuary where God’s glory dwells, between your “shoulders” (Deut. 33:12).
The call is to rise as huios sons mature, Spirit-led, positioned at the Father’s right hand and to embody Benjamin’s prophetic destiny: small but strategic, sorrow turned to strength, warriors who worship, carriers of God’s presence. The Lord is REINSTATING HUIOS – Are you ready?
